Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

It's usually easy to tell whether those making the comments have actually tried the product they're rating. The only negative ratings I saw looked pretty shallow to me.

much appreciated to folks who have posted already and would encourage others who have positive feelings about Alpha Five to jump in.

We are sponsoring the link on cnet download.com (it shows up as the 2nd listing this month which creates high visibility).
We dont think it is right for one of our competitors to attempt to sabotage our efforts and we obviously want to get as many people to try Alpha Five as possible so that they can make their OWN intelligent and informed decision!

Thanks again for those who have posted so far

It's GUERNSEY not Jersey! Things are fine here thanks. We don't worry too much about the rival isle except for inter-insular sports events when battle is on. Mike

                    Richard,

At last check, the positive reviews (including my own), were outnumbering the biased bad ones by an unbeatable margin! :)

RE: Anyone willing to respond to this CNet posting

we have done more research and it is becoming clearer and clearer that a particular competitor is beginning to worry about the inroads that Alpha Five is making in their business.

One of the techniques they trying to use is to actively attempt to sabotage our marketing efforts through c/net download.com

Any rebuttal posts on this link would be very much appreciated
                      Thanks!!

A lot of these not so kind postings are based on real problems affecting real people. The fact that this is version 6 and you're having all these Mickey Mouse issues, is not a good indicator on how powerful this software is.

I think you would really help your case alot if you concentrated on fixing these issues and stop trying to rally cheerleaders.

Ray - I completely agree with the premise that when and if an issue is identified we do work dilligently to resolve it and I think you will agree that when we put out patches we also very often add new improvements/features.

What we find bothersome is when posting are made by people who have agenda's that are not upfront and in the open.

RE: Anyone willing to respond to this CNet posting

The issues that people are referring to are things like memory issues, speed issues, refresh issues etc...

These are things that exist in version 1 or 2 of any software, not a version 6 software. You have some real serious stability issues here, and the bottom line, as a business owner to another business owner, its your responsibility to create procedures that prevent this from ever occurring in the first place.

I'm sick of hearing people saying; they're sick of being a beta tester for your products, aren't you?

And just because somebody disagrees with your point of view doesn't mean they have an agenda.

Take responsibility and fix your product!
