NEW SIG
The Alpha Five Sig will meet at 6:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each
month. This is a startup group which will be responsive to the needs of
its members. Alpha Five is a relational database which is very user
friendly to end users and developers. The newest version is packed with
features not available in other databases. Meetings will focus on
exploring these features and teaching novices the basics about using
Alpha Five. Come join us and learn how to use this amazingly powerful
and easy to use database.
Special thanks to Wally for his help in setting up this new

Hi John,
Am finally focusing on the presentation for next Monday. I think from our
conversation that the following might be of interest to the members of your
group.
Specifically, the goal is to take a list of people and their email addresses
from Excel to A5V5 where I will demonstrate how to create an appropriate
table and input form. The idea is to enter some information which will be
unique to each record. Once that is accomplished I will demonstrate how to use the add-in Net
Mailer to create a mass emailing which will be personalized for each
record. Let me know if this is appropriate or not. I would encourage a Q & A period
at the end of the presentation.
You asked for some background material. Since 1987 I have been working with
Alpha products as a database consultant and developer for small to medium
sized businesses in the metropolitan NY area, San Fransisco, and Austin TX
where I now reside. I have conducted weekend seminars in the NY metro area,
led the NY Alpha User group for over 7 years and was instrumental in
developing the Austin Alpha User Group. My most current project involves the
creation of a database driven website for the Thompson Conference LAMP group
at UT, Austin.
