Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

The Burlington Mall is very close to the hotel. You could walk to it if there were sidewalks, but there are not and it is a pretty major road so I wouldn't try it. Perhaps the hotel has a shuttle available.

Shopping in Boston is a totally different experience than any shopping mall I've ever been to. There are also many sight-seeing and entertainment opportunities there. You can drive in to Boston, but this can be a bit stressful for anyone not familiar with the area - there's a reason we're called "Massholes" ;)

Fortunately you can get to public transportation quite easily. You can get a bus from the Burlington Mall that will bring you to the subway station and from there it is a short ride into the city and many of the surrounding areas (Harvard Square, MIT, Chestnut Hill, Brookline Village, etc).

I grew up just one town over from Burlington and have lived in the area all my life, so if you have any questions about the area, feel free to ask me here on the message board or by email.

Tom Patten and I were to last years conference. We walked to and from the mall and were surprised how hosptiable the motorists were in letting us cross the road w/o having to play 'dodge car'. Perhaps we should be awarded a T shirt that says, "I survived the walk to the mall" with a picture of cars on a race track and 2 guys be-boppin' in and out of traffic?

                Hey Ira,
I hope to attend - will start working on my supervisor right now - but the budget is tighter than it's been in several years - so it's iffy.

Thanks so much for all the effort you are putting into this!

Louisiana will be represented by moialong with my wife. The week following the conference is our spring break, so we are planning on 'doing' Boston, Plymouth and Cape Cod.

Oh, if anyone needs a ride from Logan to the conference, my wife and I will be arriving at 4:38 pm on American from St Louis and we'll have a rental car. Contact me and we'll work out the details.

I was at the last conference, it was perfect and very interesting and I wish I could make it this time but, it is not possible.

I am sure it will be a great conference.

My mind will be with you!

And the drive will not nearly as enjoyable as last time.

Bergen County, New Jersey will be represented this year (I hope...personal issues cropped up last night).

Tom Henkel and Chris Barbariantz will be in attendance.
