Default Can't see Databases from A4v8

We are using both A5 and A4V8. A database created in A4 cannot be seen in A5. Why does A5 have several versions of Databases?

The DB in A5 does not match the same DB in A4, I believe A4 to be the correct data.

I do have the latest update.

    Thanks in advance

Alpha 4 and Alpha 5 are not designed to look at the same data at the same time. You can cause problems by trying to do that.

You can copy an Alpha 4 database (.dbf, .dbt) to an Alpha 5 table (.dbf,.fpt) and use it in Alpha 5. Most of the time that is a one time conversion. If it goes beyond that I use an append operation from Alpha 5 to move data from Alpha 4 into Alpha 5.

While both Alpha 4 and Alpha 5 use the dbase format, each use a slightly different variation of it. Alpha 5 uses the foxpro 2.6 version that was not available when Alpha 4 was built.

There is another message forum for Alpha 4 to Alpha 5 conversions. Have you looked at that?
