Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Solution - PDF/Printer Driver error on Win2000

After searching the AMYUNI website and internet in general I came up with this solution which works for me. I hope this is useful to anyone else with this problem.

SOLUTION (only tested for version 5):
    1. Logon to your Win 2000 machine with Administator priveledges
    2. Click on Start menu, select Settings, and choose Printers
    5. Make sure that you do not have a PDF Converter printer in your printer's folder.
    6. In the Printers window double-click on Add Printer.
    7. The Add Printer Wizard displays. Click Next.
    8. Select Local printer, remove the checkbox to Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer. Click Next.
    9. Select LPT1: Printer Port. If LPT1 port is not available the printer can be installed to any existing LPT, COM or USB port. Click Next.
    10. In the Add Printer Wizard page click on the Have Disk button and Browse to where you installed Alpha 5, locate the oemsetup.inf file and select that file. Click OK
    11. This brings up the Add Printer Wizard page and you should see the "PDF Compatible
Printer Driver on the page. Click Next.
    12. The "Name your Printer" window will appear.
IMPORTANT: The printer name must be spelled exactly as indicated below.
Type "PDF Driver" in the Name your Printer window.
In Printer Sharing, select Do not share printer and click Next
    14. Select No to Print Test Page and click Next
    15. Click Finish.
    16. You will notice in your printers folder a PDF Driver Icon

Next time you load Alpha 5 the HTML, RTF and Text Driver will install correctly and you will be able to print using those driver.

Let me know of your experiences

Glad I could be of assistance. I was in a similar position and after reading through the forums i also thought it was an isolated problem to my setup. I needed answers fast as the drivers play a significant role in my applications and win2000 is apart of our working environment. I stumbled on a potential solution by accident (which put me in the right direction) and went from there.

RE: Solution - PDF/Printer Driver error on Win2000

        Matthew,

I followed the instructions you laid out. I actually found the OEMsetup.ini file through Runtime v5. Right at the endo of the installation, Windows gave me a message something about "certificate not valid or something" and didn't install the pdf driver. Now I do not have a pdf driver on my remote desktop. Any way to reinstall the pdf driver and is there any way go around the "certificate" issue?

        Thx in advance.
        Kris

Click Continue during the install on the Certificate Issue.
