Table Not Found Script

Have a table called Customer. The form is based on a set and a child table linked 1 to 1 to the parent. The following script is on the form's OnInit event:

dim shared vcSearchby as c
vcSearchby = "Company"

dim tbl as p
tbl = Customer.Table()
tbl.order(vcSearchby,".t.")


When the script runs, I get the error message, "Table not found".

Where /what is the problem with the script?

Ken,

The statement,

tbl = Customer.Table()

looks wrong. I don't think you can get a pointer to the Customer table this way.

If Customer is the primary table in the form's set, you could do:

tbl = table.current()


If it's a child you can do:

tbl = table.current(slotnumber)


There may be other approaches, as well, but I don't think the Customer form has a ".table()" method.

Don't you want

tbl=current.table()

which will open the parent of the set?

Hi Tom,

The slotnumber; I assume you're referring to the numbering of the tables in a set where the parent table is #1, a child table is #2, etc.

I'm not sure my assumptiion is correct since one has to take into account more than one child table and then there's the grandkids.

When you get a chance, would you please clarify this a bit.
