Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Report Problem

    The following X-Basic generates a query result of 213 records.

    DIM SHARED records_found as N
    DIM object_name as C
    object_name = ":"+"Main_Info"
    DIM varP_Object as p
    'Get a pointer to the specified object
    varP_Object = obj(object_name)
    'Check if the specified object exists
    if .not. is_object(varP_Object) then
    ui_msg_box("Error","The object '"+object_name+"' does not exist.",ui_stop_symbol)
    else
    records_found = varP_Object.queryrun("(Namedage " 60 ) .and. (Policy_Info-"Company = \"TCM\" ) .and. (Policy_Info-"Prem "= 1200 ) .and. (Life = \"No\" )","","","No",""Cross Level"",.f.)
    end if

    I have a report setup to print the results of this query (setup as in print based on current selection of records)

    When I run the query it finds the proper records and displays them on the screen. When I preview the report via a script process it prints every record in the entire database.

    I am attaching two files, 1 in this message and one in subsequent. Hope they can be seen/viewed

    I appreciate any quick suggestions/help.

    RE: Report Problem

    Here is the second shot of the actual report.

    If possible, note the 1st image shows the records in query and there should be no age over 59 on the list

    On this, the second image, the printout preview shows a list that includes people of all ages. The list actually includes every record in the database versus the query results.

    Thanks

      Bob,

      Check to verify that the report is based on the same set or table as the form against which you are running the query. They must match. -- tom

        Yes, it is.

        I also run the same report, but rather than query the database for what we call a sales district, I query for a specific sales rep within that sales district. Then, the same report works perfect.

          RE: Report Problem

          Bob,

          If you run the query, and then run the report from the control panel, does the report display the correct records? If so, that signals trouble in the script that calls the report, after your query is run.

            RE: Report Problem

            Te query is a custom query within the script. I will give that a try. On the other hand, I have encountered "stuff" like this before and the problem seemed to be in the script itself and I had to delete it and start over. I am also going to try this.

            Unfortunately this particular report is the most important part of the application. Murphy's law at its finest. Every other script in the application that prints similar reports work fine so I surmise, like you say, it is somewhere in the script and I cannot find it.
