Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

        The function called by the menu to delete an image is

        a5_control_delete_image()

        However, there is no documentation about its use. It appears that it asks for an object pointer, which I would assume is the pointer for the object on the form for the image. The optional parameter "type" has the value "linked" when the function is used in the menu.

            RE: Right Click menue of Image Reference Field

            There is a way to modify the right click menu on an image control.

            (1) Create the menu (new_menu_name) you wish to use.
            (2) View the form (form_name) you want to modify.
            (3) Go to the interactive window and set the interactive session to the form.
            (4) Run this code:

            dim pObj as P
            pObj = :form_name:image_control_name.this
            pObj.property_add("right_click_menu", "new_menu_name")

            (5) Save the form.
            (6) Reopen it to see the changes.

              A small correction. Go into Design mode, not View mode.

                  Claudio,

                  I am going to take a wild guess here.

                  Try this, assume your image object name is "Image1":

                  dim pObj as P
                  pObj = :parentform:image1.bitmap.filename
                  a5_control_delete_image(pObj)

                  I am just guessing here, but it might work.

                    I got "invalid data type for this operation"
                    I think we might need to use the encode or decode parameter somewhere..

                      Aparently this.. cleared the image file name reference..
                      I just created an action script with a "" file name reference.

                      Dim ImageFilename as c
                      ImageFilename = "\"\""

                      Dim TempObj as p
                      dim readonly_flag as l
                      'Get a pointer to the Object on the Form/Browse that has the image file ref field.
                      TempObj = obj(topparent.name(16)+":"+"Tn_bitmap")
                      'Check if the image field is readonly
                      readonly_flag = TempObj.field.readonly
                      if readonly_flag = .t. then
                      ui_msg_box("Error","Cannot change image in Image field '"+"Tn_bitmap"+"' because it is read-only",UI_STOP_SYMBOL)
                      end
                      else
                      dim Tbl as p
                      'Get a pointer to the table for the image field
                      Tbl = tempobj.Field_Get().table_get()
                      dim Fld as p
                      'Get a pointer to the image field
                      Fld = tempobj.field_get()

                      'If the table is in View mode, put it in change mode
                      If tbl.mode_get() = 0 then
                      tbl.change_begin()
                      fld.value_put(image_filename_encode(ImageFileName))
                      tbl.change_end(.t.)
                      else
                      fld.value_put(image_filename_encode(ImageFileName))
                      end if

                      'now refresh the object
                      tempObj.refresh()
