Hi
I am still pottering along, seeking to improve my chartiy management system. With promptings from various luminaries on this forum I have created a system that will not allow unauthorised entries, and provides a comprehensive and detailed audit trail. I can generate cheque (check) payments and I have created a suite of reports.
One little snag which i am returning to: I need to total the daily payments in a list to the bank, and show the amount in currency and in words. I think it was selwyn who suggested this expression:
stritran(str(calc->Sum_Amt,100,2,"X$(W"),"Pound Sterling","Pounds Sterling")
This gives me an answer "two million three hundred sixty three thousand six hundred forty two and 03/100 pounds sterling" (boasting of course!)
I don't know what the 'standard' US way of expressing amounts in words is, but we in the UK would do it like this:
"two million three hundred AND sixty three thousand six hundred AND forty two and 03/100 pounds sterling"
The difference is in the two additional 'and' words.
I am not competent to alter the expression to get it to include the grammatical change. I imagine it cannot be done unless there were to be a change in the software. Welcome any thoughts from the experts.
Many thanks in advance
