Default find any text in a find operation

I have a button that searches the description field (by an index)in a stock form. But alas you must know what the first part of the text is before you can find it. What expression can I use in the index so that I can find any part of the description text sting. Thanks

    Michael,

I'm not sure I really have the answer you're looking for, but you could try using Alpha's "Full Text Search" capabilities.

Go to the "Define Indexes" card. Then at the bottom of the screen you will see a button "Full Text Search".

Next, it will allow you to select the field (or fields) you wish to create "keyword" lists on.

The only problem is that your search string must be a word, (Alpha considers a word to be any characters that are delimited by spaces, not necessarily a complete word).

Otherwise, I think queries are probably the way to go.
