    Default Capturing external events

    I want Alpha 5 to be notified if say a data file, external to has been added to a folder (latest remote data), accepting that that file can notify windows ! or alpha diectly. Is there any feature that I can run from Alpha that, even if every few mins would check if that external event had occured. Perhaps Active X or some other way ? Like an Intercept or vector detect ?

    Walter,

    Build 1389_1027 added

    file.watch_create(c wachname, c path, c flags, c code)

    Will do what you want. Of course, you could also have done it using a timer event on a formor xdialog box to check on a regular basis as well.

    Regards,

    Ira

    Walter,

    The code argument needs to be a character string, So what you need to use is file.watch_create(watch,"c:\",F,"ui_beep()")

    Also I've assumed that "watch" is a character variable. If you are simply trying to use "watch as the name, your code would then be:

    file.watch_create("watch","c:\",F,"ui_beep()")

    I have tried the following code below but when run it ties the machine up so much that I have to stop A5 and start again.
    I have tried to use destroy but its already running by that time. Does it run as a thread or do I have to do more? somehow with a timer and how ?

    Is there any further documentation + sample code, since its not in the Existing documentation.

    Eg Used
    Dim monk as C
    file.watch_create(monk,"C:\Test","F","ui_beep()")
