Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    RE: Web Aplication Server

there will be an extremely powerful genie available that will allow you to create single table and multi-table (master -detail) forms all without any programming at all. the genie will generate the html and xbasic code necessary.

there will also be a built in html editor to allow you to customize the look of the default form created by the genie.

the html editor and the genie are not in the current beta, but should appear within the next few weeks.

      Hi Mr Robins

Thank you for the reply. Did you read my post that the beta site is down? when will it be fixed

Q1: What will the cost be for A5WAS and for how many user?

I have not purchased A5 yet I am comparing it to
MS Visual Studio.NET but if I decide to purchase A5v5 will
I get the A5WAS for free or at a discount I purchased V4.5
and am aware that the purchase price for v4.5 is to be
credited when I purchase v5 however I dont no if I should
wait till A5WAS is released or for that matter v6 becouse
I dont want to be spending a ton of mony in a short time

When will A5WAS or A5v6 be released?

        RE: Web Aplication Server

The beta site is online now. It is occasionally offline while we prpare and test new beta releases.

Pricing and the release data have not yet been finalized. But I can tell you that the Web Application Server is a separate product from Alpha Five so purchasing V5 (or V6 when it is released) does not automatically give you the Web Application Server.

          Ray,

When you buy A5V5 you have an application with the value of a ton of mony. But you have to pay only $399,if i am right.
Next year you buy the WAS.
          Okay, what's the problem?
Most things are simple but unfortunately only after the first time

A5V5 does not and will not include the Web Application Server. Version 6 will not either.

The Web Application Server will have Alpha Five functionality, but it is not Alpha Five. It's like saying the runtime has Alpha Five's functionality. While this is true, they are different products and serve different purposes.
