Philip,

You don't really need someone from Chicago unless you want to meet in person.

You could post your question/s here.

Email me and I can give you the name/s of person/s fairly close to Chicago.

Ken,

I'm attempting to do simple multiplication in a set. The data is coming from two different tables. Seems like this would be a common and useful function. In Field Expressions, a simple calculation. What am I missing (aside from patience).

Thanks,
Phil

I would remind you that there is a listing of Alpha Five consultants available. If you require a little more than the type of help available on this board, you might consider hiring a consultant. You do not need a consultant near you.

Hi Philip,

What is your expression and where are you defining it? Are you using a form or browse based on a set? If so what you are trying to do should be pretty straight forward using the Calc field from the Drag/Drop list or by clicking Form from the menu bar and choosing Claculated fields.

Philip, This is quite simple if you have a grasp of the the concept.

Table 1 - how many
Table 2 - Cost

Main table - Item

Each table has a numeric key field - set to auto increment in field rules.

Create a set based on the main table as parent.
Create a one to one link to each table.

Create a form based on the set.

add a browse showing Item form the main table.

using the drag drop (DD) list:

drag a calculation field from the DD list onto the form and in the genie that appears build the equation

Field1 * Feild2

see the attachment for an example
