I would like to be able to retrieve a filename resulting from program-generated value stored in a Global variable and allow this unique filename to be the destination for the completed layout.
The reason being is that I will be saving a file format (Adobe Acrobat PDF file) to a different location each time. The location is dependent on the program-generated unique record identifier (i.e. 030001, 030002, 030003, etc) and at present, the routine Save a Layout to a file allows the file destination to be included in the filename but this is hard-coded in the dialog box Filename located within the Options tab. I have already set up empty folders corresponding to the program-generated record identifiers and I want the program to automatically place the completed layout inside of the corresponding folder. The generated layout name is constant whereas the specific sub-folder is unique. At present, I am saving the file to an area defined by hard coding the destination. After the file is saved, I then have to move it to its final subfolder prior to allowing the program to save the next iteration of the completed file format. If I were not to move the prior completed file, the program will write the new file over the previously saved file.
I have already programmed the routine that will place the unique filename string into a Global variable. However, the Save a Layout to a file routine will save the layout to the literal variable name in the same location as the database program and not to the content of the variable.
