Hi folks,
does anyone have an example of how to emulate the folder/file structure of Windows Explorer in A5? I am trying to create a contact manager in which I can create a dynamic (ie not a report) structure that models what I know about a contact. Enclosed is a mock-up of what I'm aiming at.
Fig. 1 is an example using some of the staff of Alphasoftware. Note that there are multiple instances of some people as they are in multiple departments. Clearly I should be able to move individuals between departments easily, but I should also be able to move entire departments as in Fig 2 where the Documentation dept has moved to become a part of the Development dept. I should also be able to find all the instances of a person, by person, as in Fig. 3 where I want to list everything that Aaron does (apologies if you're not a Sox fan, Aaron!)
I will be amazed if there is no way to do this as it is so useful, but if no-one has a working example, does anyone have any suggestions for the following:
1) How do I deal with the indentation required since it will change depending on how many folders an object is nested in.
2) How do I deal with the graphics for the closed folder, open folder, joining lines? Do I just have to draw my own bitmaps for each? Surely not! It occurred to me that they may be part of some special font so I could then place different (graphical) characters depending on whether a line is a closed folder, open folder, file etc
3) Alpha does not appear to enable drag & drop so it doesn't look like I can just drag folders & files around as in Windows Explorer. John Zeledski's 'Re-sorting a Browse' article in the Jan newsletter...

...has a slightly less fluid workaround, but if anyone has any other ideas, I'm all ears!
4) Is it possible to add nested right-click menus to lines in a browse so I can provide appropriate options to users? (See Fig. 4 for a mock-up)
Thanks in advance.
