    Default Table Lookup Unwanted Popups

Have a field rule defined as follows:

    Transform "Upper"

    Lookup

Popup om mismatch, do not automatically pop up.

Enter a valid entry, it still pops up.

    --select from the popup, OK

--escape the popup, press enter twice. OK

Enter a valid entry but lower case, it appears that the transform is not done prior to the lookup, and it will not accept.

    Confused.

    1. I Would expect the transformation to be done prior to the lookup.

    2. Popup should not activate if valid data entered.

Have never been able to get this to work as I hoped it would including Ver.4

    AM I totally brain dead

    Thanks John

There is no code. Just the field rules as per the .jpg. When using a form to enter new records it relies solely on the field rules.

    I'm a default kinda guy.

    Thanks, John

Is the COMMON table needed? Looks like that is part of the lookup.

Yes, common table contains most of the lookup entries throughout the app.

Sorry the table is included in the zip but not added to the app. Please click on add table and all should be well. Thought I had done it prior to zipping, but wrong again

Your linking field in the lookup field rules should be the field Abbrev rather than the field Id.

Abbrev has the value that you are comparing to. L in type, ORB in style.

Id is the field to filter on so you get the proper records considered from the common table for the field that you are entering a value for.

Then it works fine for me.

Probably wouldn't have thought of that without seeing the form and field rules.

Right you are, ID was supposed to be used to limit the search not as the link

The old forest & trees problem.

    Thanks so much
