Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Report Prints blank screen

I am a faily new user to A5, my experience is with A4. I have a report which prints on 4 of 5 screens & printers fine, but on the 5th I just get a blank screen. All these 5 computers are on the same network and other reports in the same program print fine on all five machines. But, this one report gives me a blank. All machines have plenty of RAM, and Mhz.

    Any ideas?

....I have a report which prints on 4 of 5 screens & printers fine, but on the 5th I just get a blank screen.....

Do you mean 4 computers print the report OK but the 5th doesn't?

....other reports in the same program print fine on all five machines....

Then it's something with the 5th machine and how its set up to print the report. Go to the Report Properties, and check the page tab. What are the overfolw data settings?

....All machines have plenty of RAM, and Mhz....

That should have nothing to do with it.
    TYVM :) kenn

Knowing what you can achieve will not become reality until you imagine and explore.

John, first thought here is that maybe there are video display adapter or printer driver differences on the 5th workstation.

Is the problem limited to the print preview display, or is the 5th workstation unable to print the report using the printer?

It will not display nor print the report.

I am not at that site now, but I will check the overfolw data settings. I realize it is something to do with that one computer, so I copied the A5 program off of one of the working machines to this one to make sure everything was all the same in the program setups. Still did not work???

I checked the report and it is set on shrink to fit the page.

John, while it's possible to copy an A5 database from one machine to another, it's not possible to copy the A5 program from one machine to another. It must be reinstalled on the second machine.

Does the troubled machine have a default printer defined in Windows?

Is the report set to print to the windows' default printer?

If not, is the report designed to print to a specific printer that is not yet installed on the troubled machine?

Do you have any ideas why all the reports print on all the 5 systems, and this one report will print on 4 of the 5?

                    RE: Report Prints blank screen

Yes the default printer is connected directly to the computer and is a HP4000 laser printer. This printer is the default printer, and in the same database, on a different report prints fine.

Still looking help on why I get a blank screen printing on one of five computers. I have tried everything I know to try. It has to be something with that computer. But all the other reports print fine on even that computer. It is just that one report. When I print I get a blank screen. Not a blank screen like no data found. a blank screen like the info is there, but nothing shows up. Also, if it goes to the printer, it prints one page, also, blank.
