    Default Scroll bars don't scroll

    Scroll bars in a5 don't and haven't worked very well in embedded browses. They seem to work better in regular browses for some reason. I was thinking of making a sort of multistate button strip (probably the wrong term) that looks like a scroll bar but is actually a series of buttons. Pressing near the middle advances a browse 1 or 2 records. Pressing further out toward the end advances the browse a larger amount, proportional to the total number of records in the browse. I was wondering if anyone else has tackled this problem and what they were doing for a solution?

    Hi Russ,

    I put 4 video buttons under the browse:
    -first rec
    -previous pg
    -next pg
    -last rec

    Here is the code for the next pg button:

    parentform:brTitles.activate()
    Sys_send_keys("{PGDN}")
    parentform:brTitles.activate()

    The first and last lines are necessary to move the focus away from the button.

    This is 4.5 code but works in 5. There may be a better way to write it using Version 5's new methods but I haven't looke into it.

    Thanks Bill,
    I'm working with tables that are anywhere from 10000 to 150,000 records. Trying to get into the vicinity of a record using the scroll bar is pretty hard. I know I can do it with a find on key but I want to provide as many ways as possible for my users to find stuff. In most windows programs the screen redraws fairly smoothly as you drag on the scroll bar. A5 doesn't do this smoothly at all, perhaps because it's done in xbasic? In any case I hope to have some time to look at this more next week. (time has been sort of scarce lately, maybe the earth's rotation is speeding up or something ;-))
