Who can
participate in the Alpha Five Web Application Server Beta (A5W)?
Any existing Alpha Five V5
customer is free to download A5W. Your existing A5V5 license number can be used
with the V5.1 Beta.
You can also use your existing
A5V5 Activation Key. To do so, copy the "activation.key" file from the folder
where you installed A5V5 (typically c:\program files\a5v5) to the folder where
you installed V5.1.
What's In this
Beta?
This beta includes the Alpha
Five Web Application Server, which is an HTTP server that can process pages that
contain Xbasic code. There are no genies at this point to help non-programmers
create web pages. So, in order to be productive with this Beta release, you
must, at a minimum, be proficient in using Xbasic to open tables, fetch through
records, define queries, and enter and update records. However, you do not
need to be an expert Xbasic user.
We are working on genies that
will make creating web pages easy for non-programmers, and that will convert
existing Alpha Five forms into web pages.
What is V5.1 of
Alpha Five?
V5.1 of Alpha Five contains
everything in V5.0 of Alpha Five, but it includes a fundamental change to the
Xbasic language. This change allows multiple Xbasic threads to be run at the
same time.
Who should I
send feedback to?
If you have questions or
comments, please send to Lenny Forziati at
[email protected].
Does this Beta
expire?
The V5.1 Beta expires 30 days
after it was initially built. You should check back at
http://was.alphasoftware.com frequently to see if new builds are available.
