Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Upgrade to Upgrade prices??

I have A5V4. If I purchase A5V5 it should cost me $299. After trying this, If I decide to purchase any of the A5V5 Unlimited Runtime Versions, would I get discount of $299 or I would have to pay it's respective $799 (10 users) $999 (20 users) $1499 (unlimited users)???

Am assuming correct that Runtime version includes those respective network versions or are they dfferent?

    Thanks.

The runtime will be in addition to.

These are two different products. If all someone bought was the runtime, it would be impossible to build a database. At least one copy of the full version is required in order to build tables, forms, reports, scripts, etc.

The only time a company might consider buying only the runtime is when they have an outside developer who does all development off-site. In my case, I still have my customers purchase at least one full version so I can make changes directly on their systems - either in person or using remote access.

      Jayesh,

      ...I have A5V4. If I purchase A5V5 it should cost me $299...

      TRUE

      FALSE

The only discount off the upgrade price off v5 is if you purchased v4.5, which it appears, you did not. There is no discount off the RT prices if you own v4 or earlier RT. There would be a discount from the RT prices IF you purchased v4.5 RT, then that amount would be discounted.

In addition to what Cal stated, it appears that you would pay $299 for v5 plus the amount for whatever RT you wanted.

Thanks for clarifying that Ken. Apparently my mind was still asleep when I read the first part of the question.

          Thanks for making it clear!!!!

I still have another question on same subject.

Lets say, once I purchase/upgrade A5V5 for $299 (since I own A5V4)and then purchase A5V5 3 or 5 user network version, would that be cheaper than the current upgrade price of $749.00 0r $1099.00, since I now own new A5V5 or would I be paying full upgrade price as above.

Is there an unlimited network version of A5V5?

          Thanks.

          Jayesh

            RE: Upgrade to Upgrade prices??

If you purchase a single user v5 for $299 and the decide to later purchase the 3 or 5 user set, I believe you'll pay the upgrade price. You will not get a discount off the upgrade price because you purchased v5 single user. I've not seen anything that allows for further discounts.

If I buy a single user vervsion A5V5 and later I buy a 3- user network version, can I add the single-user version to the network and becomes 4-user network?

                Good Question,

Sure, why not? It's a legal copy.
