Default Printing a whole XDialog window

    Hi folks,

other than by taking a snapshot of the screen and printing that (i.e. using ui_bitmap_create_from_screen), is it possible to print the entirety of an XDialog box?

If not, if your app uses XDialog, do you just have to resign yourself to never WYSIWYG printing the XDialog windows?

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    Trevor

    Ok, I'll bite.

Other than for documentation/user manual uses, why would you want to print an xdialog box? There are plenty of free/fee screen print/capture programs which by definition are well suited to the task.

    Thanks, Stan.

My app is built in XDialog: no forms or browses. As such, I want to print it for the same reason one would print any form or browse.

A screen capture would print everything visible rather than just the active (XDialog) window.

The windows are MDI windows. Printing in most apps prints the contents of a window even if the window has been re-sized (ie shrunk) so that not all the contents are visible, or if the window is partially off the screen.

The dialog in question contains an activeX and it would be nice to see all of it.

    Regards,
    Trevor

I guess I'm old school. To me, forms and browses are for viewing, reports, labels, and letters are for printing.

I do have a screen capture program which allows one to either print or capture and in either case define the screen area to be handled by enclosing it in a rectangular "lasso".

    Trevor,

I will also take a stab at this.

Since Alpha does not support printing a Xdialog like they do a form, my suggestion would be to create a report that mimics the Xdialog.

Short of that, as Stan suggests, a screen captur is your only other option in my opinion.

The Calendar Addin has a screen capture function to capture just the xdialog window and save it to bmp, jpg, or png. But, as Stan points out, printing forms is not done very often.
