Execution from Query results no records selected

Hello all,

I searched and searched and read... no answers. Maybe from ya'll..

SITUATION: I have a dummy form-A based on table-A with three fields, the field values of which are placed into three variables for searching Form-B, based on Table-B. The button-based action from Form-A opens Form-B and executes the query.

QUESTION: How can I capture the condition of query result "No Records selected" to execute closing Form-B? Is there a flag variable that I can set conditional actions to?

Any help appreciated.

I don't know how you are runnng the query but I think you'll have to code it in xbasic something like

tbl = table.open("yourtablename")
query.order = "reportorder"
query.filter = "reportfilter"
qry = tbl.query_create()
nrecs = qry.records_get()
if nrecs " 0 then
'print or preview the report
else
ui_msg_box("Info","your message here",UI_INFORMATION_SYMBOL) 'or just end
end if
end

Mike,

In addition to Stan's idea, you might consider the new

A5_GET_RECORDS_IN_QUERY()

function. You could get the record count before you open the second form. If it's zero your script could end without opening the form in the first place.
