Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Script:UI_DLG_BOX: line:97 save(lv) Error 1

Problem occurs when you open a web project and create a web component by going to ASW Pages clicking new and creating an Alpha Five Web Component. After you get into that portion of the application select grid and hit ok then you just need to change one item on the page to allow you to attempt to save. For this example I am checking grid contains a 'search' part. Then the error comes up that says: "Script:UI_DLG_BOX: line:97 save(lv) Error 1" so I am unable to save. At once point I could not even do a preview of my changes and had to error out then open the preview pane again but got to view the page. I have gotten this error on a Dell GX110 and a GX280 standard builds with Windows 2000. I'm still troubleshooting the issue but anyone that has an idea shoot me an e-mail. Also I looked up on the message board and found the following thread....

can't save changes to web component - David Brown
HTMLWhen I try to create a new web component or save changes to an existing web component I get the following message; "Script:UI_DLG_BOX: line:97 save(lv) h.object.documenthtml subelement
    Date: 02-21-2005 9:01 AM

You can reach this thread at: http://msgboard.alphasoftware.com/alphaphorum/read.php3?sortby=lastreply&direction=desc&num=15&id=13677&thread=13677

But the problem is that after I uninstalled Windows Update KB891781 which they were saying is causing the problem I still get the error so my last thing I am going to try is to download the dhtmled.ocx file referenced in the above thread and drop it with the 2/10/2005 date. I'll post more on this once I fix it since customer service at Alpha is lacking a great deal. With all due respect they should have a better understanding of their software and I should NEVER hear well sir I don't know especially on simple version differences!! Come on guys!

For lack of better resolution until that pre patch comes in I reinstalled ALL windows updates etc. Program still fails where it did before however now when I go to close out of the program by clicking on the X as seen in the attached file then click yes to save instead of no to ignore I get the following error.

            Script:UI_DLG_BOX: line:58 flagOKToClose = OK_to_proceed(lv) Error 1

Can't wait to try the prerelease I'll let you know ASAP what the results are. -Thanks

Found a third computer that is not so up-to-date on the patches and I'll attmept an install on this to see if it will work. GX240 base image date unknown but previous to the two current ones. Does not have the 81 hotfix on it at all. Installed the full software package, the update and the prere. While I'm waiting for the installs to complete I'd like to offer another route of change through that of the system registry. Is there any registry item we might be able to change that would allow us to point to a specific ocx file? is the ocx file really the problem here? Is it because it is the older DB that I am trying to add web content to? Alpha4 or Alpha4v3

....oh btw no luck on the third system either.

Is there any registry stuff we can do?

                  Windows 2000 Unregister/Reregister Procedures:
                  C:\WINNT\System32\regsvr32.exe /u C:\Progra~1\Common~1\Micros~1\Triedit\dhtmled.ocx

                  C:\WINNT\System32\regsvr32.exe C:\Progra~1\Common~1\Micros~1\Triedit\dhtmled.ocx

Is the ocx file really the problem here?

I can't answer that but I keep hitting a dead end on it.

Nope, created a new db and went with scratch so thats not it.

Spoke to John on the phone he is going to send me the OCX that he is using which now there are three different versions of this OCX file I will now have. I'll continue to play.

I decided to try some registry items. So I registered the ocx file that John sent me and I unregistered the file then reregistered his file from the c:\progra~1\a5v6\dhtmled.ocx and I received a differen error message: Script:UI_DLG_BOX: line:84 hc.object.Refresh() hc.object.Refresh method not found.

                          Guys,

I get a similar message to that, but slightly different:

                          Script: UI_DLG_BOX: line:93 save_as(lv) Error 1

Research results are, that when I try to load a database into my developer version from one of the (Novell) servers, on saving a grid this message appears.

When I copy this database 1:1 to my local PC (XP Pro) and open it into the same developerversion, the error message does not appear and saving is possible.

Unloading the MS Hotfix as mentioned does not change any of this.

So, at this point I have no development environment on my Application.

Can someone at Alpha react on this ? Is the patch ready (I read something about a pre-release ? ).

                          Running the latest patch: 1555 - 2051.

                          Kind regards,

Marcel, I have been trying to work with Matthew on this problem. The pre-release did not fix the problem.

I am waiting for him to send me detailed step-by-step instructions to duplicate this error. I have not been able to duplicate it here and I do not see any obvious problems in the source code that could cause this. If you could send me the detailed steps to cause this error, I can take a closer look at what the problem may be.

                              Lenny,

Thanks for your swift reaction in this matter.

I will give you the step-by-step information, but I personally think the cause of the problems is more related to environmental issues (server-environment / client-environment).

Reason for this is, that as explained, when I copy the DB to my local client's HDD, and then load that copy DB into the same A5 Developer Version, nothing goes wrong.
It does go wrong when I try to load the DB from the Novell 6.0 Server environment.

Okay, here comes the step-by-step info:

                              1- Start-up A5V6 Developer version, full-version, 1555-2051.

2- File, Open, J:\mydir\myapp.adb (database located on the Novell 6.0. Server Environment)

3- Login as Administrator using the standard Alpha Five log-in feature

4- Application loads correctly and presents the Main Menu that it is supposed to present.

5- Open the CP, give it focus, push the button "Web Projects"

6- No project exists on this DB, so selected is "Default".
Selected is: "Web Components". Push the button "New" on the top, left.

7- Pop-up box appears asking for the type of file I want to create. I select: "Alpha Five Web Component". Press OK button.

8- Choose "Grid", push "OK" button.

9- Now, do nothing, just press "Save" button on the system tray, or if you want: File, Save as......

                              10- Message appears:
                              Script: UI_DLG_BOX:line:93 save_as(lv) Error 1

                              More info:
                              - All essential Windows updates on the local client have been installed. Microsoft reports no essential updates left.

                              - Installed on client: Windows XP Professional
                              5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600

                              Kind regards,
