Default UDC.. the Rodney Dangerfield of all objects!

This one item: "User Defined Object", believe it or not, was never, I MEAN NEVER, mentioned on the board as the main subject of a thread!! It was mentioned twice, in passing in other threads!!.

It seems that everything else was mentioned time and again, except for this one object that does not seem to get any respect.

I am becoming more interested in this ellusive object that nobody seem to ever mention or possibly use!

I know it's there for a reason and there is a couple of examples of what you could use it for, but I am curious if anyone used it before and for what application purposes. I have a rathre vague idea of what I might want to use it for but I'd like to expand my horizons. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Gabe

I used it once. It was used to cover the "pencil" icon on a memo editor field to deactivate it. Other than that, I never had a reason to investigate its purpose.

I use it for the same thing Jerry does. It’s also useful if you want to shift focus away from user fields (e.g. a form opens modeless and the potential exists for accidental changes from the keyboard buffer). You can simply code the udc to take focus. Since I also code my own checkboxes, I always use a udc over the “checkbox field” to place an “X” in the checkbox on a mouse click or uncheck the field if it is already checked.

I believe the proper term is User Control.

    There can be only one.
