    Default Report Calculated Fields

I have an application with calculated fields and I want to print the results out in a report. When I am in the report screen, the calculated fields don't appear in the calculated fields list. Does this mean I have to duplicate the calculations for the report. Or is there a simple trick I have missed.

When I cut and paste the expressions from the form to the report, as I expected I get an invalid expression error.

Is there a way to make the calculated fields global?

    Thanks

    Paul,

"Does this mean I have to duplicate the calculations for the report"? Yes, is the quick and simple answer.

With regard to Global variables, yes you can create one but it would only have one value. The idea of Variables is to use the value they hold, and carry the value to different parts of the application depending on how the Variable is structured, eg. Global, Session etc.

I'm guessing that you made the calculated field in the form.

If you edit the structure of the table, there is a global calculated field that is available from there.

From memory, I believe the navigation is table - global calculated fields.

You can also search the help file for global calculated field and follow the firections from there.

I'm on a MAC and the PC's not available right now.....

    Al,

Does this mean that I will have to put the calculations back in at that level. I guess it does as the parameters won't be available at the higher level.

I have found the location you mentioned so I will try it out.

    thanks

    Paul
