Default Bitmap, JPEG Image, or Image File Reference?

Our customer services reps produce 100's of letters a day. We have their signatures scanned to be printed on the letters. Can anyone tell me what type of field to use for this purpose?

    Thanks.

You can set up a user table that stores the signature etc as a lookup field. You can even use this as a lookup jpeg field.

    does this help?

    Thanks Jack,

I was looking for guidance on what type of field would be most efficient for the signature, Bitmap, JPEG Image, or Image File Reference?

I would say Image File Reference field type is 'most efficient' in terms table space but be careful - if in a multi user environment (with or without shadowed databases) you have one or more uses referencing Z:\ drive and another opens the database on local C: - the references may not be the same to each one running the application - from memory the local user would need a Z: drive mapped as well and references loaded in respect to the Z: drive (so the reference points to the same file for all users).

    Regards,
    Scott

Don't use JPEG unless they are compressed at the "lossless" setting. It would be better to use bitmaps if you want sharp images that look like actual signatures.
