Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    RTF Memo & Styles 1 to 8

I've posted this before can not crack it. Why do I only get "Tahoma 8" when I open meo field on a screen.

I've gone to Settings & set RTF Memo to Arial 10 to make the memo easier to read. Nada. Font 8 is too SMALL for my clients.

There are "8" styles listed on the RTF Toolbar BUT all read Tahoma 8. How do I change to OPENING font Style 1 to Arial 10 then Style 2 to Arial 12 etc.

Seems like a no_brainer so that says something about my programming skills!

    Big thanks group.

Highlight the text and/or the fields within the RTF, right click and choose properties, define any font/size/color etc you wish. You could mix and choose as well.

RE: RTF Memo & Styles 1 to 8

Thanks for the reply but I did not explain my ? well enuf. I know how to do what you say but what I want is to open the MEMO & immediately start to type at FONT Arial 10 (Style 1 which I assume is the default when you first enter a RTF memo field).

How do you set Styles 1 to 8 to something different? They all read the same. Tahoma 8 which I do NOT want, font too small.

I don't want to have a user have to change the font everytime from 8 to 10. In fact a couple have already said it is a pina to do.

      Later.

Why do not you set the RTF properties in the design mode to whatever font you wish? Then when you enter new text in the RTF, it will be based on that font.
Are you saying that you could not change the font in the design mode from Tahoma 8 to Arial 10?

I will assume you do not have the full version.

You are right there is NO place to set the "default" font when in FORM Design mode. There is no place where you can change the default FONT for the RTF memo from Tahoma 8 to Arial 10.

I do have the full version. I see now what you are trying to do. You are trying to change the font at the data entery time. But again, why not, if you are not happy with Tahoma 8, why not just set the font to Arial 10 at the design mode?

It works in my version! you simply open the form in design mode, set the RTF poperties to any font/size you wish. I do not see where the problem is? In fact, I just changed the font of an RTF just for the heck of it!
Do you have the full version? are you working from a runtime version?

                  gabriel,

Are you looking at an RTF MEMO field or and RTF object? I don't know of anyway of setting an RTF Memo field default font (except under system fonts, and in that case it only works if you press on the pencil icon and open up the RTF memo dialog).

Now you talking! the lingo is very important! what you are talking about is a "memo" field not an "RTF" field! memo fields are saved in text files and you are right you can not set the properties for those in design mode. I checked under preferances, but I could not find a way to set the fonts there either. My guess is this is something the gurus at Alpha will have to respond to. Mind you, the concept behind memo field and RTF is not much different, if all fails, you might want to put your field entries in an RTF that you could customize instead of a memo field. Let me know if you come up with anything different.

                      Gabe,

If you read D.Chiasson's first few posts up above you will see that he was asking about RTF Memos.

Foregive me Peter, but in alpha's lingo, they do not have such a thing as "memo RTF field". When you read memo RTF field, you would assume it is an RTF field in which he places memos! and not a memo field.
To refer to a memo field, you just call it what it is, a memo field.

I designed a mock form based on a table to which I added a memo field. I know you are not going to like this, but follow though with me:
I do not know how you display the memo field in your form: is it simply a small box with the pecil icon to the right? or is the box large enough where you could you read some text in it?
In the design mode I was able to change the text font and size and it looks just fine in the data entery mode.
Now, if you click on the pencil icon, you open a window, which will have the default font, not necessarily the one you chose, BUT, look up in the toolbar where you will see where you could change the font size up or down byclicking the A icons.
                            I hope that helps.

Ok, you have a point. There are the following three types w. regard to the word "memo":

                              Memo field
                              Rich Text Memo field
                              Rich Text Object

Usually when people say RTF Memo, they mean Rich Text Memo (at least that's what I think they mean), not a Rich Text Object with a Memo field embedded. But, I suppose it can be confusing. BTW: I used to sometimes drop a Memo field in an RTF object, but sometimes things got wierd, so I no longer do that.
