we have found and fixed the problem. I am deeply sorry about this. we will be putting out a new patch later today, but in the mean time, you can download a pre-release of the next patch with the fix field rules from this address:

It only happens when you try to make a new table in 'design mode' all other 'new' functions seem to work OK

The latest patch is now 1536-2014 and it works fine. No problem creating a new table.

Something strange is going on. I have 2015 loaded and it's working fine. You might want to try re-installing the update. Make sure no other A5 processes are running when you do it - i.e., either reboot or check the Processes tab under the Task Manager and kill all Alpha5 processes.

I managed to get ahold of Tech Support via the phone on this one and we managed to fix the problem by copying all of the null.*** files from a working computer to the non-working computer.

Obviously for this to work you have to be in an environment with a couple different machines running A5V6 and one of them has to be working correctly. Perhaps not of much help to everyone but might shed some light on the problem. It helped me.

I did as suggested, rebooted, reinstalled and same problem. I also have the same problem on my notebook.

I can get along right now by first building it using the text problem. No problem.

Will wait until problem is solved.

    Thanks,
    Marc

I also had this problem. I was finally able to resolve the issue by copying all of the null.* files from the A5V6 directory on a machine running version 2012. Hope a new update comes out soon.

We're trying to figure out why this has occurred. In the meantime, you should be able to either copy null.* from your A5v5 folder or add null.dbf to a database and open the default browse, thus creating the data dictionaries.

I'm also using 2015 that I downloaded ( with a view to buying) a couple of days ago & am having the same problem ( running XP home with Service pack 2).

I've no A5v5 to copy from.

Being a newbie I was unclear what you meant by "add null.dbf to a database ".
If you meant create a table called "null" I tried that & opening the default browse & it had no effect!

    Any more suggestions

There is a file called null.dbf in your a5v6 program files folder. Attach the table to any database and then open the default browse on the table. That will create the resultant data dictionaries.

Or, just extract the attached zip file to your a5v6 program files folder.

    I'd already looked for null.dbf & couldn't find it.

When I previously added the null table it created a null.dbf file but this did not solve the prblem.

However copying all the files in the zip you attached did.

    So thanks.
