Default WAS Version 7 and SSL

I tried the SSL option on the new version and everything seemed to work execpt my menu system under the new navigational component. When I set the SSL option on and access via the https it does not work. When I fetch a WAS page that is not a navigational menu (grid) it works.
    Any idea's
    Thanks

When you specified the URLs for the menu items, did you specify them as http://...

If so, they are now hard=coded to NOT use SSL. You should instead use relative URLs if possible.

http://server.com/page.a5w and https://server.com/page.a5w are both absolute URLs

    page.a5w is a relative URL

Relative URLs are always preferred if possible, just like relative paths in a desktop app, to make your applications more portable. If your example uses the absolute URLs above and you want to move it from server.com to server2.com, you would need a new navigation component. However if you use the relative URL, you will not need to change anything to have it work on the new server.

The page will use whatever host it is currently viewing. The behavior and concept are no different than a desktop app. If you're at Alpha's home page and click on the Products link for example, the link in the HTML is to "/products/". Because you are already viewing http://www.alphasoftware.com, your browser requests http://www.alphasoftware.com/products/

Now go to http://www.alphafive.com and you'll see out home page. Click on Products, the link to "/products/", and you'll see that your browser takes you to http://www.alphafive.com/products/

This is the exact same link both times, we do not have two copies of our site. By using relative links, the actual server name and protocol is inherited from the previous request.

Are you still having this original problem? I have been unable to duplicate it here. If you send me your unpublished component, I can take a closer look at what might be happening.

Email is probably the easiest. You'll find the component in

    <your_db_folder>\<your_db_name>.webprojects\<your_project_name>.webproject\

Alternatively, you can right click on the component in the Web Projects Control Panel and choose "Send" from the menu.

I didn't even know that was there! It's definitely the easier way to go.

Greg, I recieved your component by email. Your component does NOT use https://... in it, it uses http://...., which forces the links to not use SSL.

You can solve this problem in tow ways
    1. Use relative URLs as explained above.
    2. Create an SSL version of your component that uses https:// for each of the menu items.
