Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

I assume you do have a runtime version installed.

      Same Problem

I have purchased the runtime and run it. But I have no way to create an installation. Nothing under the tools menu.

You have to have the Alpha Five V7 runtime installed on the computer for it to show up.

Did you run the runtime once?

I'll take a look into this when I get to work on Monday.

                    No InstallMaker Either...

                    Hi there;

I don't think anyone's crazy - I have no InstallMaker either. In Version 6.0 it is there, but not in Version 7.0. I have both the Runtime as well as Full Version in 7.0.

It sounds like Aaron's going to check into it for us Monday!

I just upgraded to ver 7 tonight and also installed runtime but have no Installmaker menu entry either. Actually I don't see any manu for Utilities on the dropdown.

                          v7 Runtime

I purchased and installed both the a5v7 full version and the runtime version. But I do not see the TOOLS UTILITIES as the pdf file suggests... in my control panel. I DID run the runtime a couple of times as some posts here suggested but I still don't see TOOLS UTILITIES to create an installation package.

Please, I need immediate as I need to install an app in the morning. I have used both v5 and v6 runtimes with no problems.

Thank you in advance for help

                          Kris

If you need an emergency fix, you can copy the following files from your A5v6 folder into your A5v7 folder:

                            a5im.exe
                            Adcfg.Dll
                            adfactry.dll
                            adgrp32.exe
                            admreg32.exe
                            adreg16.exe
                            sfxbe161.dll
                            sfxbe162.dll
                            sfxbe163.dll
                            sfxbe164.dll
                            sfxbe321.dll
                            sfxbe322.dll
                            sfxbe323.dll
                            sfxbe324.dll
                            sfxfe16.exe
                            sfxfe161.exe
                            sfxfe32.exe
                            sfxfe321.exe
                            shortcutcreator.exe

Note, that InstallMaker is not required to copy an application from one machine to another. Are you already distributing an a5v7 application to your customers?

                              v7 runtime

Yes, i am already distributing my app. to customers. Mainly because I opened an almost completed app. from v5 in v7 and now i need to distribute it asap.

also, you provided a list of files to copy from v6 to v7 folder. Is that the full version v7 folder or the v7 runtime folder that they need to be copied into.

Please let me know at your earliest. thx
