xDialog Property Sheet

Hello Everybody

I'm new to Alpha and have just received V7, love it, especially the property sheets using Xdialog.

In the sample database, Learning Xdialog, there is a example where the property sheet data come from a table, I've had a play around but can't quite work out how one could add a new record to the table using this style of Xdialog. I'm sure it can be done I just don't know how.

Can somebody point me in the right direction please.

Hello Michael,

If I am understanding what you are looking at, the Xdialog property sheet is simply presenting an Interface to the user and any imput the user makes is stored in the variables defined. The dim'mmed variables in the exmaple I'm looking at are:

DIM SHARED varC_result as C
dim vShip_State as c = default "MA"
dim vState as c = default "MA"
dim vfirstname as c
dim vShipSame as l = default .t.
dim vPhoneFax as c
dim vPhoneWork as c
dim vPhoneMobile as c
dim vPhoneHome as c
dim vShip_zip as c
dim vShip_City as c
dim vShip_Address_2 as c
dim vShip_address_1 as c
dim vZip as c
dim vCity as c
dim vBill_Address_2 as c
dim vBill_Address_1 as c
dim vLastname as c

So in the example I'm looking at (not taking into consideration error checking etc) you could place the following code after the Xdialog property sheet:

t = table.open("Customer")
t.enter_begin()
   t.lastname = vLastname
   t.firstname = vFirstname
   t.city = vCity
   ...............etc................
t.enter_end()
t.close()

You can do the same thing with Action Scripting.

Ok - here comes the stupid guy with the big mouth....

I thought that the Learning XDialog adb and the help chm stated that you could edit or enter data thru the property sheet and the example shows a button that allows saving of the new or edited record.....

I could have misinterpreted what I read, so I am not sure at this point. Will look into it later
