Default switch from calculated field rule to user entered

I have searched the archives and haven't found an answer to this, but I may not searched correctly.

I want to be able to edit a record after it has been calculated. Is there a way to switch all the calculated fields to user enter (and back)?

    Thanks...John

John, I don't know of a way to do this without manually changing the field rule. It sounds like you need a default field value rather than a calc field.

    John,

This is something I had to do over here, in UK, with a nasty tax called VAT.

Our VAT is 17.5%, but the law says if someone invoices you at 17.6% you must pay it, therefore a field rule for subtotal*.175 was not sufficient for entering bills received from suppliers.
Easy way around is to have the field as user entered then put your calculation in simple default in data entry and have it set default at start of data entry. then if the resultant calculation is not what you want you can change it.
