Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Impossible trying to reach Alpha Software

I have tried to reach Alpha over twnety times for almost a month both by phone or email for both customer support and sales with NO success. Either the phone waits exceed an hour or ALL the emails are returned undeliverable. I have used the numbers and email address from the Alpha web site.
This is absolutely disgusting and the poorest excuse for support there is.
All I want to do is reactivate a license from one computer to another as I have sold the computer with one of our installs. I have the license but cannot activate on the new computer as the license is still linked to the sold computer. Alpha's instructions in a case like this is to contact them. What a joke that is!!!!!!

Is there someone that can give me some sort of help as obviously Alpha isn't interested in supporting their product?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I beg to differ, I had exactly the same request due to a total reinstall of an OS on one of my machines last week and I received a response within 24 hours. That was using the customer services contact link on the web site.

It may well be that as a result of your post, your issue may already have been resolved and if it is please let us know.

One thing I am certain of is that Alpha Software have tremendous pride in looking after us all (their clients) and I am sure the issues you have experienced are both unusual and not intended.

Please email [email protected] or [email protected] and they can help you with reactivating your license. You can also call 800-451-1018 and ask to speak with Brett or Adi directly by punching their name into the directory.

There's not much we can do about the wait on the line. If everyone is on the phone, you are put into a queue which is answered on a first-come first-serve basis.

I'll look at our website and see if there is an error in the email information, as nothing should have been bounced back. You should be able to use this form: http://www.alphasoftware.com/about/contact.asp to get in touch with customer service also.

        The emails return undeliverable

        Thanks for your comments.
The two emails you include in your reply have been returned undeliverable 6x each.
[email protected] or [email protected] - these two are from customer support. There are another two that have been returned undeliverable from sales 14x.
It is definitely not from our end as we send and receive hundreds of emails weekly through our system.
I will try to reach customer support again this AM and let you know the results.
        Thanks again.

Please forward one of the bounce notifications to [email protected] so I can find any corresponding entries in our server logs and try to determine why the email is not getting through. You can also send your original email to that address and I will forward it along for you.

Brett an Adi have received hundreds of emails this weekend alone due to the release of Alpha Five Version 7. There is clearly something amiss between our two servers.

Please send me the undeliverable reports. You can email them to me, or if that is undeliverable for some reason, private message it to me.

Just for the record, I am very pleased and impressed with the support at Alpha Software. If you thought you were not getting anywhere, try using Filemaker. They offer NO support. I have had nothing but good assistance from the team at Alpha. Sometimes patience is in order. As for emails not getting to their destination, all mine have been received, so I cannot answer to that, but I love it here...;)

I would say your experience is extremely unusual. I have had excellent service when I needed it. In fact they have gone beyond what I would have expected.
