Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Publish Web Project

Is it possible to allow a selection of ALL FILES IN PROJECT to stick so it doesn't keep going back to current file?

Publish new and modified files only is already selected by default so nothing should get sent that didn't change.

Also there appears to be a BUG in that it only publishs files in the WEB PROJECT that is selected. Maybe "All Files in Project" should be "All Files" and it should scan and select the different Project directories?

Wouldn't it make more since to have the ALL FILES selection be all the projects under this database? If I make changes I have to remember to republish each Project that changes and its easy to forget and takes unnecessary time republishing each Project folder.

It only goes back to "current file" if you have a file selected. If no files are selected, it defaults to all files.

Publishing multiple projects in the manner you suggest doesn't make sense, since publishing profiles are tied to the project they are a part of, not the database. What you are suggesting might be an interesting feature, but is absolutely not a BUG.

I must be missing something. Why doesn't it just publish to the directory of the project just like it does in the webprojects directory during development? I don't care if it publish to the same directory on the web server, I use Projects to make the code cleaner.

Im using Projects more like Catagories to keep my web code organized into smaller sections during development. We don't do anything with a PROJECT thats not associated to the APP/Database. Why call them projects, isn't the PROJECT the APP/Database.

For Example: In an app called "Accounting". I would have several "Projects"
A/R, A/P, G/L, Invoices, Payroll etc. This allows me to organize the code into smaller parts. Sounds more like Division or Catagories within the App. Not a different Projects?

I'm not trying to be dificalt, I'm just trying to understand. Thanks

What you are doing might better be served by separate folders within the same project.

While you might not care, others might and the product is designed so that each profiles are bound to a project, not a database. Working in a DBF world, this might not make sense to you, but if you start working in a world of ADO or Client Server, projects become more significant.

Yes I agree Folders will work. I noticed the "Current Folder:" label and the option to MOVE up a folder but didn't see anything about CREATE a folder.

So I was thinking Alpha called it Projects and selected that.
I wasn't thinking of going to the FILE menu and creating a folder.

          Nuts, thanks again.

Or you can right click on the file list to make a folder.
