Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Error in Adding Records to a table

    I have the following in the Validation Event of a web component.

    I'm getting a error when I click submit that reads
    "Errors in: event.Form Level Validate code: Not found Request not found."

    Are ALL the ERROR codes documented somewhere, I can't ever find them in the help?

    Any suggestions?

    Code:
     dim tbl as p
     tbl = table.open("<ADB_Path>\LogAccess")
      tbl.enter_begin(.t.)
       tbl.LoginID=Try.User
       tbl.PasswordAttempted=Try.Password
       tbl.ClientID=Session.ClientID
      tbl.enter_end(.t.)
     tbl.close()

    #2
    Among other things, the alias is incorrect...

    You have:
    <ADB_Path>

    and it should be
    [PathAlias.ADB_Path]

    But I don't believe that is where the error is stemming from. Please include the complete function call for the validation code so we can help you.

      I had the alias the way you suggested and changed it because I thought that maybe that had something to do with it. I changed it back and it still errors.

      If the code in my previous post is the only thing in the Server Event Vaildation of the component it still errors out.

      Is there a list of error messsages somewhere?

        Which validate event is it in? Is this a dialog or a grid?

        Where is "Try" initialized? Do Try.Username, Try.Password, and Session.ClientID exist at this point?

        The error is telling you that a variable is not found. Did you copy and paste that error directly from the browser or did you type it here? Does it really say "not found Request not found"?

          HOLD EVERYTHING.. I don't think my changes are being published. I've cleared published files. Unchecked Publish on New or Modified, selected All Files in project and I still don't see it send anything other than something about CSS.. and A5Application... and not any of my files???

          Tryed making a chng to this component and the A5W file. Tryed selected files and still nothing

          I've shutdown, restarted. Is there some file I should check??

            Web error message descriptions

            I'm sure its a stupid question but I can't find a list of error messages and the description of each. I've searched the HELP files and the web?

            Can someone point me to aURL or help files where I can get a list of the possible ERROR msgs you can get with Alpha5 WEB and what each means?

              Jerry, are you still trying to figure out what Request not found means? It means that the code being executed is looking for a variable or object named "Request" but it cannot find it. Aaron already explained that it is simply not possibly to explain every error message in detail.

                My app will not PUBLISH. Any suggestions. NO ERROR just doesn't do it.

                It does go thru the process and I see Transferring files via FTP and it goes thru CSS and stuff but never publishs the files.

                It does work on publishing to the local machine.
                Is there some file I need to delete or something to get it to publish again. I didn't see anything in the LOG files?

                FYI: There have been NO changes to the profile or anything??

                Any suggestions?

                  Forgive me I don't see anywhere that ARON said it wasn't possible to explain every error.
                  Aron did say "The error is telling you that a variable is not found". I don't see where he said the "REQUEST" variable is not found and that's a big difference.

                  ANY DOC'S ON ERROR MESSAGE would be helpful! I've been hours trying to figure out this error.

                  FYI: Your wording of "variable or object named "Request" is VERY HELPFUL. I now understand that "REQUEST" is an Variable or Object in the error message. I quess if it was CLIENTID or something I would have picked up on it.

                  You having a bad day?

                    My sincere apologies if I came across a bit gruff. I do have a lot going on so I may have been a bit short, but I did not mean to be grouchy.

                      When you go to publish, press the "Clear publishing history" button.
