Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    New Release?

Any news on when the next update will be released.

There are several things noted fixed in different threads, and I would like to get them if possible.

When a new patch is made available, you will see a note on the News tab when you start Alpha Five.

In the meantime, here are the pre-release (beta) patches for A5v7. Note that these are not *official* patches and are not supported releases.

I believe you just install the runtime patch, though I am not 100% positive.

              Aaron:

I don't think its the same as the runtime only. At least the previous downloads had different file names if I remember correctly.

I believe the runtime only has a filename like a5v7_rt.. and a5v7_rtplus.. and the WAS only product is a5v7_RT_WAS...

I'll wait till the end of day today and if know one else jumps in on this forum I'll try the runtime.

              Thanks

Jerry, the runtime patch will in fact work just fine for your Web App Server. While the patches are slightly different, the runtime patch includes everything you need, plus a little bit more like toolbars and icons. I believe the file size difference is < 1MB

Its not working. I loaded the RUNTIME patch above over a WAS only product and it did not work. The patch file run without error but when I try to start the server it loads with the icon in the tray but does nothing when you try to start it.

If I go into the WAS Control Panel and select START SERVER the following error is displayed: SCRIPT:httpd_mainV7 line: 78 Not Found httpd_vars not found.

I tryed loading the FULL version in the above link and it loaded without error but when I attempt to run, it is ask for a license number and exits. I tryed the WAS only after loading the full version and it still won't start.

I'm going back to the WAS only product for now.

Please post a WAS only beta PATCH soon.

Is there anyway to get the WAS patch like the above before 12/15.

Lenny, THANK YOU so much. WAS only version appears to be working with SSL turned off.

With SSL turned on there is an error:
                            script:httpd_mainv7 line:78
                            not found
                            httpd_vars not found

If you have time to fix and repost great, if not can you post a quick reply and I'll make changes on ourside without the SSL for now.

                            Thanks again
