Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Cell spacing problems

    Good morning,
    I'm very, very new to any sort of writing code, and need help with setting the height/width of a cell within a table, within a freeform. The SITES grid, in the attached file, contains a freeform based on the Site_Id field. Within this freeform are several tables. In the lower table, the text is not lining up properly in the rows beginning with Earthquake, and the one below it, Flood. In addition, the heighth of the cell is greater than the heighth in the 3rd and remaining rows. Notice that the Earthquake row has a button (as well as the 3rd row) on the right-hand side., which I think is throwing the heighth off, yet I can't figure out how to fix it.

    Would someone please take a look and hopefully spot what is causing the problem (and let me know how to fix it)?

    Here is the code:

    HTML Code:
    </table><table width="800" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" background="C:\Program Files\A5V7\Stylesheet Bitmaps\earthy.jpg">
    	<tr>
    		<td width=135 background="" bgColor=#993300>
          <p align=right><strong><font
          color=#ffffff>&nbsp;Earthquake:</font></strong></p></td>
    		<td width=25 background="">&nbsp;{equake}</td>
    		<td width=135 background="" bgColor=#993300>
          <p align=right>&nbsp;<strong><font
        color=#ffffff>Dorm:</font></strong></p></td>
    		<td width=25 background="">
          <p align=left>&nbsp;{Dorm}</p></td>
        <td width=10>&nbsp;<strong>|</strong></td>

    If you look toward the bottom of your code, you'll see a messed up form closing tag along with a messed up body tag. While that may not be the source of your problem, it sure can't help. I

    Just like the [code][/code] tags, there are [html][/html] tags available on the message board, which I edited your post to include.

    For more information, see this thread:

      Thank you, Aaron.

      The code was automatically generated, I did not write it, so I assumed it was all correct. I added your suggested code to the bottom and have the same cell spacing problems, and don't see that this editing has made any difference at all.

      I will try deleting the affected rows and add them back in to see if this "resets" the cell/row/whatever spacing. Other than that, I can't find anything in Help about cell heighth and width (other than setting it in pixels or percents, which doesn't fix the problem).

      I'm hoping someone can tell me why the 2nd button on the right doesn't throw the rows below it off, yet the 1st button does.

      Thank you,
      Wanda

        Just to let you know my "fix"...nothing more than inserting two rows, and placing the fields/buttons on the new rows, then I deleted the offending rows. Problem solved, except that I don't know what the reason for the original problem was...
        Thanks,
        W
