Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Hi all

    Has anybody got an example of creating charts with simplecharts, I want a chart by month showing invoices total for the account that is active in a account table which also hold the invoice totals for each account by month i have tried following the docs example but I am a little lost.

    Hi All

    Can somebody point me in the right direction I have a set "acc-totals made for two tables "account_charge_Type" & " acc_month" I am trying to graph invoice totals for the active account by month, the account field in account_charge_type is Acno & the same in acc-month and the months in acc_month jan-Dec, here is the code i am using but the error I am getting is content expression is not valid, any help you can give would be gratefully received

    Andy

    dim list as C

    Dim account as c

    dim desc as C

    dim num as N

    dim k as N = 1

    chart = activex1.activex.this

    account = account_charge_type->acno

    list = set.external_record_content_get("acc-totals", "account_charge_type->acno + '|' + acc-month->jan", "acc-month->jan", "account_charge_type->acno = " + quote(account))

    chart.DataSeries.clear()

    for each x in list

    desc = word(x, 1, "|")

    num = val(word(x, 2, "|"))

    ' create a new DataSeries for each data point

    chart.DataSeries.AddBarSeries(desc, 0)

    ' add each data point to a different DataSeries

    chart.DataSeries(k).SeriesData.Add(" ", num)

    k = k + 1

    next

    chart.refresh()

      SimpleChart

      Andy,

      First of all it is important whether you use the Lite Version or the Standard version of SimpleChart. The Lite version is shipped with Alpha Five as a standard bundle, the standard version you will need to purchase from Imagio.

      Here is a code example that works with the Lite version that I just received from Selwyn Rabins and which might help you.
      I would furthermore like to advise you to try to use the SimpleChart functionality available through action scripting as a part of Xdialog if you are having trouble generating the code yourself.

      Here is the sample code:

      Code:
      'Create an XDialog dialog box to prompt for parameters.
      DIM SHARED varC_result as C
      DIM sc_FuncCode AS C = <<%CodeFunctions%
      FUNCTION DisplayChart AS V ( pChart AS P, arrData AS P, pDef AS P)
               pChart.Caption = ""
               pChart.ShowLegend = .t.
               pChart.LegendPos = 3
               pChart.ChartData.Clear()

              FOR EACH x IN arrData
                       IF eval_valid("x.Label") .AND. eval_valid("x.Value")
                                IF x.Label <> ""
                                          pChart.ChartData.Add(x.Label, x.Value,0)
                                END IF
                       END IF
              NEXT

      END FUNCTION

      FUNCTION GetData AS V ( arrData AS P, pDef AS P, lv AS P )
      arrData.resize(line_count(pDef.Values))
      arrData.initialize_properties("Label|Value", pDef.Values)

        Hi Marcel

        I have been trying to use the xbasic action scripting, my problem is that when i change the account my graph is not changing, I have setup a variable of account and in the filter have said that "account=var->account" but It does not change, any ideas

          Hi Andy,

          I have, but I do not know whether it can be embedded into the functionality of your application, but here it comes:

          I would skip the variable and use an argument instead.
          You can define arguments right in the action script, it is a standard feature.
          Most of the time variables are filled anyway with users feedback, so in that case the use of the embedded argument functionality would only seem logical.
          Look at the settings of the action script parameters and go from there.

          However, as said, cant look into your app whether it is in place there or not.

          Kind regards,

          Marcel
