Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Replacing Dialog Submit button image

    I'm trying to set a dialog's Submit button image to something other than the default.

    Best I can figure is this, but to no avail:

    Code:
    stritran(x_dlg_UserLogin.Output.Body.Dialog_HTML, "name='submitButton'", "name='submitButton' + <img style='border-style: none;' src='images\login_Go.gif' alt=''>")
    Any thoughts?

    The reason that what you are trying to do here won't work is that the buttion is a submit button and not an advanced button. Because of this, you cannot embed an IMG tag within the INPUT tag. But what you can do is change the entire submit button, which will look something like
    HTML Code:
    <input type="submit" name="submitButton">
    to something like
    HTML Code:
    <input type="button" onClick="document.forms[1].submit();"><img src="login_go.gif"></input>
    Also one other thing I noticed that is likely to cause you a great deal of grief is that in your replacement string you've used a backslash in the URL for your image. URLs always use forward slashes. If you use an backslash, the image will appear in most versions of Internet Explorer, but it will not work in other browsers.

      OK, thanks Lenny. But where/how do I make this replacement? That's the major item that's befuddled me. It needs to be part of the dialog component and I haven't figured out how to get at it.

        It's the same general technique used for syntax highligting that I explained here and Ed added to the webhelp here

        But instead of transforming Grid_HTML, you'll transform Dialog_HTML

          Thanks for your persistence.

          I now have this, which doesn't do the job. I've verified that the Search_String is indeed what I have in my page source.

          Code:
          search_string = "<input class='ALLDlgButton'  style='' type='submit' value='Submit' name='submitButton'>"
          replace_string = "<input type='button' onClick='document.forms[1].submit();'><img src='images/login_go.gif'></input>"
          stritran(x_dlg_UserLogin.Output.Body.Dialog_HTML, search_string, replace_string)

            If you load the page in your browser and view the HTML source, what is the markup for the button now?

            Also, document.forms is a zero-based array of all of the forms on the page, so document.forms[1] refers to the second form on the page. This would be correct if you were working with a grid that contained a search part, and is what I was thinking about when I posted that code. But in the case of a dialog, it is more likely that you only have a single form on your page. If this is the case, you need to use document.forms[0].

              The markup is exactly what I have in the Search_String variable in my code. Here 'tis again:

              Code:
              search_string = "<input class='ALLDlgButton'  style='' type='submit' value='Submit' name='submitButton'>"

                Steve, is your code really
                Code:
                stritran(x_dlg_UserLogin.Output.Body.Dialog_HTML, search_string, replace_string)
                and not
                Code:
                x_dlg_UserLogin.Output.Body.Dialog_HTML = stritran(x_dlg_UserLogin.Output.Body.Dialog_HTML, search_string, replace_string)

                  OK, I made that change and still no joy.

                  Attached are the A5W page, dialog component and .gif. I want the Submit button to use the .gif image.

                  Thanks if you have the time to look.

                    Steve, when I run your page, the code for the button you want to replace is
                    HTML Code:
                    <input class="ALLDlgButton"  style="" type="submit" value="Submit" name="submitButton">
                    Note the use of double quotes. You need to specify this exactly in order for stritran to match the string and replace it. Once I fixed that, the button was getting replaced.

                    That revealed a second problem, I gave you the incorrect replacement HTML code. You can either use a <button> tag or an <input type=image> tag. Attached is a revised _testpage.a5w that includes a working example of each syntax.
