    Default Not getting full screen

I have just installed A4v8 into Win XP Pro #2. I cannot get it to load into a full screen -- just 1/3 of the screen.

I am using Radeon 7000 display adaptor on a KDS Avitron 17" monitor. The computer has an ASUS mb, 1400 mghz AMD Athlon processor.

I am tried everything I know (which ain't too much), and nothing seems to work: i.e. alt/enter, etc.

I have used Alpha 4 back in dos days and liked its simplicity. I retired back about 9 years ago and only now have had an opportunity to go back to using Alpha 4 for a volunteer database job that I (unfortunately) took on. But it may be money down a rathole if I can't get it to work.

I had an early version of Alpha 5, but dropped it as too complicated . . . requiring too much "programming" which I am too old to learn.

    Anyway, can anyone help??????

You have tried everything except scan these boards.

Can't remember the details but maybe the V6 should also be checked as well, as this has come up many times

    Default A4V8 Full Screen

    Robert,

On my system (A4V8, Win XP Pro SP2), [ALT]-[ENTER] toggles from the small DOS window into and out of full screen.

Hopefully this won't be taken the wrong way, but I've had students that, when they are told to do something like '[ALT]-[ENTER]' hit both keys at the same time. If possibly you are doing that, hold down the [ALT] key and tap [ENTER].

To the best of my knowledge, the key sequence works regardless of the hardware or OS it is running on.

    Default A4V8 Full screen

Hold ATL key down and hit the ENTER key, then release and it will switch between Full and 1/3 screen.

    Default Full Screen for A4v8

OK . . . now I've reached the epitome of exactitude.

I had to reduce my screen resolution to 1024x768 (while maintaining 32 bit color).

This loads Alpha 4 into an "extended" screen. (The opening screen has slightly larger type that extends off-screen to the right.)

I then hit alt/enter which gives me a fully workable Alpha 4.

    Simple.

But it took a couple of days of tryin' and tryin'.

And that was a little tryin' on this 73-year-old man!

    Default A4 Full Screen

    Robert,

    Glad you got it working.

Don't feel bad about being 73 - I'm not too far behind you.
