Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

New & Better WAS HTML Editor...

    > Neil, was wondering what had happened to you, I hadn't seen
    > any posts on the Alpha5 message board recently. Looked to see
    > your most recent post and see that you've moved over to the
    > WAS board. Just wanted to let you know that your insightful
    > posts were missed.

Thanks for your message. And yes, I have been working on a video project. But I WILL be back, certainly to get in on all the A5 Web Application FUN. Here's something I had been planing on sending to Richard and Selwyn, but since you asked, I'll run it by you.

I LOVE the way that the Web Application Server has a buillt in HTML editor. But... to be honest... it's pretty bare bones, so I had to look for a replacement. Not just any replacement. A FREE replacement-- that I could give to my users for editing HTML email. I did a LOT of evaluations and... GREAT NEWS!

There is a fantastic open source HTML editor at Nvu.com. Check it out! It's a small download. Listen. I have both Dreamweaver and Front Page, and in some ways I like Nvu BETTER.

As a programmer, I can always tell good code from GREAT code by how fast the program works. This Nvu is one WELL WRITTEN program. (Open Source efforts usually produces these kinds of programs.)

The beauty of this IS... not only can you give this HTML editor away to your clients and users for FREE... (here's the part especially for Richard and Selwyn)... because it's OPEN SOURCE... it can be made part of the A5 WAS without cost to Alpha Software. You can take this well written C code, ADD the crutial A5 links and hooks that you already have written in C, AND suddenly, the WAS has a top-notch HTML editor.

Maybe for a future version-- just something to consider.

PS: Maybe in a few days this post could be moved to the "Features Wishlist" section,

    Neil,
WOW what a grate looking editor thats not to say that Lenny and the Alpha crew did not do a good job with WAS editor (Rome was not built over night)
but this would be something for Alpha Software to look into.
    Kind Regards,
