Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Login page

    Help! WHY is it that when I log into my web pages via the log in screen, I do not return to the web page I tried to log into.

    My grid component Validate code is
    Code:
    if User_Name = "" .or. Password = ""  then
    	currentform.has_error = .t.
    	currentform.error_message = "User name or password cannot be blank."
    else
    	dim correct_password as c
    	DIM level AS N
    	dim correct_level as n

    	correct_password = lookup("[PathAlias.ADB_Path]\user_names","User_Name=" + quote(User_Name),"Password")
    	if correct_password = Password then

    	level = lookup("[PathAlias.ADB_Path]\user_names","User_Name=" + quote(User_Name),"Level")
    	session.__protected__SecurityLevel = level
    	session.WASAGSolutions.UserName = User_Name

    	ELSE
    		currentform.has_error = .t.
    		currentform.error_message = "Invalid user name or password."
    	end if
    end if
    The After Validate Code is

    Code:
    if eval_valid("session.WASAGSolutions.targetUrl") then
    	if session.WASAGSolutions.targetURL <> "" then
    		Currentform.RedirectTarget	= session.WASAGSolutions.targetURL
    	else
    		currentform.redirectTarget = "MainMenuBar.a5w"
    	end if
    else
    	currentform.redirectTarget = "MainMenuBar.a5w"
    end if

    session.WASAGSolutions.FlagIsLoggedIn = .t.
    The code I put in the web pages is
    Code:
    <%A5
    a5w_include("logintest.a5w")
    %>
    When I login, the login page comes back up and does not go to the target web page

    Thanks Mary Anne

    The code in my login test page is

    Code:
    <%a5
    session.WASAGSolutions.targetURL = request.request_uri

    if eval_valid("session.WASAGSolutions.FlagIsLoggedIn") = .f. then
    response.redirect("login.a5w")

      Move
      Code:
      session.WASAGSolutions.FlagIsLoggedIn = .t.
      above the place where you redirect them to a new page.

        Hello Steve,

        I moved it under the "if session.WASAGSolutions.targetURL <> "" then"

        and this did not help. Is it in the right place? For example, I put the code
        Code:
        <%a5
        a5w_include("logintest.a5w")
        %>
        into my web page. When I go to this page, I am directed to login page. I login but it will not go back to my web page.

        Thanks Mary Anne

          I meant put it as the first line, but I'm wrong about my solution anyway, I should have tested prior. The AfterValidate reads past the redirect to catch the FlagIsLoggedIn statement.

            Steve,

            Do have a solution? It seems that the logintest code does not redirect to the correct page

            Login test code is
            Code:
            <%a5
            session.WASAGSolutions.targetURL = request.request_uri

            if eval_valid("session.WASAGSolutions.FlagIsLoggedIn") = .f. then
            response.redirect("login.a5w")
            end
            Thanks Mary Anne

              You do not appear to be setting session.WASAGSolutions.targetURL to anything. The value contained in this variable is what the component uses for the redirect. If nothing is specified, you will always be redirected to MainMenuBar.a5w

                Hello Lenny

                Can you show me how I would do this so that all pages are redirected?

                I thought I had set it to session.WASAGSolutions.targetURL = request.request_uri

                Thanks
