    Default Web Component/page archive forum

I know there are already a lot of forums on this board, but there is a lack of code archive data related to web components and pages in the code archive. The only references now are in the web demo.

It would be helpful, I think, to have a way to share design ideas. For example, I created a dialog component that I think (modestly) is kind of cool that I would be willing to share....but how to do this? Explaining it is more like an article than a message post, and uploading a working example would exceed the upload limits.

A picture of my component is attached.

    Pat -

Another arena that you could share this in might be the Newsletter. In fact that might be a great new category for the Newsletter. I suggest that you forward this on to Alpha to have it included in the next issue. Seems like they are always looking for new articles and interesting solutions.

    My 2 cents

    Pat,

That is a very cool component feature you build there. Actually something like this I missed with Alpha5 already. I think it should be in the feature list like Dropdownbox... for a certain field.

Making it possible to select more than one field content...

    regards, Ron

As Scott suggests, why not write up an article?
    Does your component require Javascript?

OK, I'll contact the newsletter people.

No, it doesn't use javascript. Just plain vanilla A5 dialog component features and a little Xbasic for the buttons.

Just place it in the code archive. If it exceeds the limit, then upload parts 1, 2 etc, zip it, or send it to Lenny or Aaron and I'm sure they could attach it. Alternatively, post it on your web space (this is what I now do) and put a link to it. This is what I've been doing more recently, as it allows me to make updates and changes to my code as needed and still give others access.

One other thing is to make sure all key keywords are in the subject line, e.g. Web Component Drag & Drop List

Thanks for the advice. I've posted it to the code archive. Wasn't a problem after all.

    Pat,

Just a suggestion for the future for you and others. When you attach a file, don't use a generic file name like Example.zip. Use something more descriptive like Web_ListAddDrop_example.zip.

Also, don't use spaces in the name, use underscores, as this sometimes causes problems.
