Default Ctrl I and Ctrl K... no new dialog boxes

In a browse, when I use [Ctrl] I or [Ctrl] K, no dialog boxes appears.

This is probably a simple switch setting, but I cannot find the answer in this message board or in the FAQ.

What is supposed to happen when you press these keys, they are not listed in the shortcut keys list.

Ctrl I is a shortcut for changing the Index.

Ctrl K brings up the search by Key.

Also, even when I try the menu to search by Key, the dialog box does not appear.

    Lawrence

Does this happen in AlphaSports also?

Are the choices greyed out on the menus?

Sometimes they open, but are so far off the screen that they can't be seen or used. Then the registry settings need to be changed. The easiest way to do that is to record your license number (if it's a development copy) and then delete all of the Alpha 5 registry entries. Restart the program, reenter your license number and try again.

Let us know if that fixes the problem....

I have not tried Alpha Sports. This is happening is the most simple situation... open a file, then browse. Then try Ctrl K to do a search by Key.
No dialog boxes appear at all, anywhere.

This happened to me some years ago and Alpha staff told me about a simple setting change. But I cannot find anything via the menu, help, etc.

Being older, of course I cannot remember those old instructions. One of my favorite jokes is: 'There are 3 signs of getting old. The 1st sign is forgetting things. And I cannot remember the other 2 signs.' :-)

    Thanks

    Gotcha

I've heard that the second thing to go is memory.

And no one remembers what the first one was.... in fact was there only one before?

    Here is a work-arround:
If the browse is deleted, and another is created from the raw browse of File Open... then Ctrl K works again.

I am clueless as to why. But at least here is a way to get the Ctrl keys working again.
