Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

      Dear G Gabriel,

Somewhere I read you referred to as "She". Until that time I would not have known you were a woman, but in this thread you have clearly exposed yourself to being 'a tease". If you have something to share.... just share it. Don't posture yourself, as it comes across as arrogant. Are you wishing to be arrogant?

Wow Mike! How flattering? your charm is killing me!

Why didn't you just say it in plain understandable English: "Hey , yo.. arrogant teasing "B".. why don't you share it and get it over with?" that would be more like it!

By the way, ALL your assumptions are incorrect!

And, what's with you guys? nobody likes a riddle anymore? Does this board have to be dull and boring all the time? This is not home work.

There is no tease here, I am trying to give others chance to come up with the answer first. Give others a chance. I am telling you, this thing is so silly, anyone could figure it out!

I like riddles. But this seems to be a very easy one... as you said:
Now, C'mon...you do not want me to give you the easy answer! You will hate yourself and hate me for it.
Don't tell it, don't tell it..... I don't want to hate you and myself. :D

Don't wait too long G. It's just like feeling very hungry, if you wait too long the hunger is over and the food taste not as you expected.:)

            G,

OK, you seem to like riddles. Take on these:

            1. What one known thing do all generations have that excluvely comes from their mothers that cannot be received from their fathers?

            2. What one known thing do all generations have that exclusively come from their fathers that cannot be recieved from their mothers?

            3. When does an absolute vacuum contain the entire universe?

            3. When is a riddle worth solving?

            Tag... your it.

              Alright...
              One last chance.

Let me re-iterate, this might give you a hint and so as to be clear on what we are talking about:

              You have:
              1-One table
              2-With multiple fields
3-On adding a new record, when you enter a value in the first field and then
4-move to the second field, you want the values in the second field to be filtered based on your choice of the first field
5-You are not using a static, but rather dynamic values.
6-You are not using another table for to look up these values, but you are looking within the same table.

Field1: country: UK, US, Canada, ..etc. If you choose US, next field will show:
Field2: state: AL, AK, AS....etc, if you choose AL, next field will show:
              Field3: City: Mobile, Birmingham, etc.

I feel an avalanche of more insults heading my way! but I won't wait too long as I had enough already! so hurry up with the answer.

                  OK,

I'll bite. DBMax() of TableMax() filtering with the value in the first.

I don't know if this any faster or easier than anything else but it works.

Oh, and in the riddle category.

You've probably heard the one about a tree falling in the forest making noise. (or not)

Well, If a man is speaking in the forest and there is no woman to hear him .... Is he still wrong?

Funny, every woman I tell that to knows the answer straight away.

At this point, I think we can rely on the wisdom of our illustrious Secretary of Defense:

There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know.
