    Default Submit Button

Hopefully this is a simple question

How can I stop a client from pushing the submit button more than once when entering a new record.

I have people clicking a few times on the button which is creating duplicate records.

    Any help will be appreciated

    Thank-you

    John

One approach is to set up database rules that don't allow duplicate records.

Another is to send them to a "processing" page as soon as the Submit button is pushed, that waits until the record is submitted, then redirects the user once again.

There's probably a way with javascript or other tools to disable the submit button -- I'd have to do some google research (googlesearch?) to find that.

    Hi Steve

    Thanks for the reply

How would I go about setting up the processing page? As that would work.

    Thanks

    John

    response.redirect("newpage.a5w?message=item added")

Or just redirect to the current page. The posted form vars won't be available as desired.

You could also disable the button with the DOM propertie "disabled".

    javascript syntax
    document.form.yoursubmitbutton.disabled=true;

Has anyone worked this out effectively? Is there a way to place code in the before validate code to dim or disable the submit button? I dont quite get how to use the javascript code as suggested. Thanks
