UI_GET_LIST3P() Help

I am trying to use the funtion UI_GET_LIST3P(). I have read and played with this but I can not figure out how to be able to use the output. Following is the example from help

dim choices as C
choices = <<%a%
one
two
three
four
five
%a%

? ui_get_list3p("Select One or More Choices", "three", choices)
= lastbutton = "OK"
selection = three
four

when I do

if lastbutton = "OK" then
  output = "jack"
end if

I am getting error message of "Variable "lastbutton" not found." I am assumming I do not have this statement correct but am at a lost. Can you point me in the correct direction?

If you have another look at the help you will see that the function returns its output into a pointer variable

Answer as P = UI_GET_LIST3P( Title as C, Default_Selection as C, Choices as C )

When you run it in the interactive window with the "?" the two subelements of this pointer and the value that they contain are shown.

= lastbutton = "OK"
selection = "three"

If you want to use the value of these subelements you need to assign the function result to a variable which will hold these subelements. And then make reference to these elements as pointervariable.lastbutton = "OK"

dim choices as C
choices = <<%a%
one
two
three
four
five
%a%

qqq =ui_get_list3p("Select One or More Choices", "three", choices)
?qqq
= lastbutton = "OK"
selection = "three"


if qqq.lastbutton = "OK" then
  output = "jack"
end if

?output
= "jack"

Wish your example would have been in the help file. Maybe Alpha will add it.

On a side note I would like to thank you and the others for the unpaid help you give us. Most times after I read help and do not find my answers there I go to this message board and do a search. Majority of the time I find my answer in help or learn I was going about my solution the wrong way.
