Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: Why cant i make a form work like other parts of Alpha

Here are the two zip files i used.

Now today i still have the same problem any right click menu item will shut down Alpha.

I was going to do reinstall alpha V8 But i just tried Alpha v7 and it is doing the same thing and right click menu item shuts down Alpha

I think the zip that Ronald made may be the one but i do not know.

Here is more information about what it is doing.

    I open a Alpha project
I highlight a form and right click to bring up the menu then i pick view or anything in the menu and it shuts off Alpha.

It seems to be set to prevent me from using the right click menu.

I can open the form and edit it from the top menu and from the control panel its only stooping any right click menu use.

I assure you i was editing and working in Alpha right up to the point when i used the zip files and right after that it all quit working right.

Right before i used the zip files i used the right click drop down copy to. To link a form to a set.

After i ran the zip files i was going back to work and i tired to make a second copy to of another form and from that point on i have had this problem.

What is strange is some things can make it go back to working right again i am still trying to find that out.

I will do the time restore next

You picked a date point before the problem?

That is strange. I never experienced a system restore that didn't solve a system problem - ever!

              Edward,

I downloaded the two examples you've uploaded here again. I unzipped them and run them in A5v7 and A5v8. I don't encounter any problems with the right clicks on the mouse. I went also back to the original files I downloaded before I started tinkering with the the 'SetOnTop' code. They behave the same as they should.

I tested also the last Ronald/Peter/Marcel version in A5v8. No, problem at all, runs like a charm.

This means that I cannot replicate your problem with A5v7, A5v8 and the uploaded files on my computer.

              I ran out of options.
              Marcel

                Marcel / Peter

Given all the iterations that have occurred in this post, I have kinda lost track of the "final" iteration that is mentioned by Peter.

Is it possible to post it in the code archive area again or update it here?

                Best regards,

                Jeff
