Default Convert V7 login procedure to V8, using the security framework

    Hi,

I have developed some webapps in V7, all connected to SQL databases. The login procedure uses the User and Password data, stored in User tables. The security levels are also stored in these tables. The passwords are automaticaly generated, using a function in SQL. In 2 of my webapps, this password will be send to the user by e-mail.
The new login procedure in V8 uses the new security framework. User and group data are stored in hidden tables. Is it possible to use the SQL user table and implement that in the new security framework?
All security issues seem to work with that framework. The old “security levels” are gone. Do they still work?

    Thanks,

You can use any security system created in A5V7 in A5V8. Just re-publish one component or page to publish some files the V8 server needs to validate that the V8 security is off.

The default security method in A5V8 is group based, but you can still select "level based" in the grid properties security model and still use levels in V8 components. However, the V8 security system does not recognize levels and will ignore them.

Is it possible to use the SQL user table and implement that in the new security framework?
Not directly. However, you can create a passive linked table in V8 and then import any required data into the V8 security tables.
