Session Variable

For some reason when I open a dialog my session variables are not recognized. This code worked in V7.

The session variable is defined in the validate (I even tried aftervalidate and it did not work)

session.fullname = alltrim(session.firstname)+" "+alltrim(session.lastname)

For troubleshooting I displayed the session.fullname on several other pages and the full name data is within the session variable.

In the initialize portion of the dialog I place the code

current.controls.dlgassessor = session.fullname

However when a dialog is opened I get the error message.

Errors in: event.initialize code:
Property not found
session.fullname subelement not found.

Where am I going wrong?

Phil,

The error message says that it can't find the variable in the initialize event. This event occurs before the validate event where you define it, so it can't find it. I have two suggestions,

First, define session.fullname back where ever you define session.firstname and session.lastname. That way, you know it has a value.

However, just because you know it exists, the initialize event also needs to know it exists, so, in the initialize event, use

 
Dim session.fullname as C
currentform.controls.dlgassessor.value = session.fullname

The dim got rid of the error messages, but the controls were not populated. I will now look into that now.
